Onshape is moving towards publicly sharing its product and is looking for a few good users to pre-beta test it with real-world production projects.
” Blathering blatherskite!”
I remember my first introduction to marketing. It was during an episode of Disney’s Ducktales where Fenton Crackshell wanted to show Scrooge McDuck that he was more than an accountant (being only one other person knew of his alter ego Gyzmoduck). To do so, Crackshell created a commercial about a gum, PEP. Accidentally, the commercial aired and was so well received by the public that they were clamoring for the product before the product even existed.
Today marks that day in real life.
Jon Hirschtick published his first blog post on his company’s website, Onshape. Onshape is veiled in secrecy by all who are even the least bit familiar with the product, but what we do know is that the company is packed with an amazing group of talent and they are creating something new for the CAD world. In his post, Jon lists his five reasons for creating another CAD startup.
- The Design World has Changed.
- The Computing World has Changed.
- [He] Feel[s] an Obligation to his Customers.
- Nobody Else is Meeting the Challenge.
- [He] Want[s] to Make CAD Fun Again.
If you are interested in learning more about Onshape and not being able to share it with the general public, Onshape is taking names to use a pre-beta release of the software on production-ready projects. There may not be a product yet, but I know I am certainly looking forward to using it. And, I hope using Onshape will make me float away. That’s part of the fun of CAD, isn’t it?
