High-Speed Robotic Palletizing with Regenerative Power Function

Automate 2019 - We check out one of the fastest 130 kg palletizing robots on the market.

Palletizing is an accessible and valuable application for industrial robots. Because of the limited movement required to palletize or depalletize items, most palletizing robots have 4 degrees of freedom, compared to the six degrees of a fully articulated robot arm.

This Kawasaki CP-series robot features a regenerative power function not unlike the regenerative braking feature in an electric car. When the motors are decelerated, the current generated is fed back into the grid. This reduces the net energy consumption of the robot.
