These new solutions are aimed at assisting organizations to shift into decentralized data infrastructures, such as Gaia-X.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) recently unveiled the HPE Solution Framework for Gaia-X. It will allow companies to advance data monetization through the Gaia-X network.
Gaia-X is a decentralized data network system that allows users to securely share and aggregate data, insights and services at scale without requiring a central cloud. This means that companies will be able to leverage a data-driven business model, allowing them to tap into distributed data pools and advance their capacity to create value using data. The initiative is already being supported by more than 300 organizations in Europe, and globally. The new HPE Solution Framework is specifically designed to assist companies, service providers and public organizations in shifting to decentralized data infrastructures such as Gaia-X. The framework will support the ability to both provide and consume data and services.
According to HPE, the technology was based on a reference architecture taken from key components of their HPE software portfolio alongside other third-party software and the Cloud28+ platform. Cloud28+ is an independent community composed of different cloud services and knowledge-sharing providers around the world. This includes end customers, cloud service providers, solution providers, ISVs, systems integrators, distributors and government entities that are working towards the accelerated adoption of enterprise cloud technology.
HPE also announced that it will be releasing an HPE Roadmap Service for Gaia-X which will assist customers in developing a roadmap to access and use Gaia-X. Individual solution components are also available via the HPE Greenlake cloud services portfolio.
“Gaia-X is an answer to the key question of the next wave of digital transformation: How can we create network effects without centralizing all the data? This is perfectly in line with our company strategy which is focused on unlocking the value of data distributed across locations and clouds,” says HPE Senior Vice President (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) Johannes Koch. “However, Gaia-X does not do the job alone. It requires a range of capabilities to benefit from this platform. In essence, you must know how to monetize data and put it to work.”
According to the European Commission, data value creation is expected to drive economic and social progress for the coming decades. They are anticipating that 80 percent of overall data volume will be processed and distributed through decentralized methods by 2025, thanks to a new wave of industrial and professional data. In a 2020 research by the World Economic Forum, this development will see organizations creating value from data insights through new revenue streams, new business models and improved customer experiences. The European Union’s data economy is already forecasted to triple by 2025, reaching a value of €829 billion.
The HPE Solution Framework for Gaia-X and the HPE Roadmap Service for Gaia-X are now available in Europe. HPE shares that other Gaia-X compliant interfaces and connectors will soon be available once Gaia-X specifications are finalized. HPE is a founding member of the Gaia-X Association, contributing to the Gaia-X architecture, standards and certification.
