Eurotech has launched a new Internet of Things (IoT) gateway, the BoltGATE 10-12, which the company says will greatly simplify connecting the field with the cloud. The low-powered gateway device has certifications for the automotive and rolling stock industries, and features a solid metal enclosure with IP67 protection against damage by dust and liquids. The BoltGATE 10-12 has an OT4 operating range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius.

“The BoltGATE 10-12 dramatically simplifies bridging both greenfield and brownfield applications with the cloud,” said Pierfrancesco Zuccato, Senior Product Manager at Eurotech. “On the one side, it is a very rugged and connected device; on the other, it comes with a rich IoT Framework that works seamlessly with most cloud platforms.”

The BoltGATE 10-12 is also equipped with an internal battery that’s certified against power interruptions up to EN50155 Class S3. It is also equipped with a safe shutdown capability and supports input from 9 to 36 V with transient protection.

There are multiple ways to connect with the BoltGATE 10-12. The gateway has an internal LTE Cat 1 cellular modem with dual Micro-SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, Ethernet ports and an internal GNSS with Untethered Dead Reckoning. There are also protected serial ports, CAN bus and isolated digital I/O for field use. System integrity and authenticity is ensured by TPM 2.0. The BoltGATE 10-12 also comes with 1GB of DDR3 memory, 8GB of eMMC storage, and a microSD slot. It’s equipped with internal temperature sensor, digital accelerometer, and digital gyroscope.

The BoltGATE 10-12 can stand on its own as an IoT gateway solution or it can be integrated with Everyware Cloud, an IoT edge management platform from Eurotech. The platform helps manage devices used in the field including facilitating configuration, application life-cycle management and remote access. The platform also comes with a real-time data management feature that allows users to collect, store and analyze data from sensors and devices employed in the field.

The BoltGATE 10-12 comes with Everyware Software Framework (ESF), Eurotech’s IoT edge framework that’s integrated with Everyware Cloud. ESF supports field protocols including Modbus, OPC-UA, and S7, and has MQTT connectivity.

BoltGATE 10–12 is one of three new devices from Eurotech geared for field use. The company recently released the BoltGATE 10-31 and BoltCOR 32-18, both designed for GPU-accelerated artificial intelligence (AI) applications and also equipped with rugged features.

“The BoltCOR 32-18 is a game changer for Edge applications that require GPU acceleration and the highest level of reliability,” said Eurotech’s Giuseppe Surace. “Eurotech developed innovative cooling solutions to enable packing so much performance in this very compact and fanless unit.”
