Essentium showcased the Essentium High Speed Extrusion (HSE) 3D Printing Platform, demonstrating large-scale additive manufacturing. Essentium also demonstrated use cases for its electrostatic discharge (ESD) safe 3D printing material, critical to protect electrostatic-sensitive devices in electronics manufacturing, oil and gas, and aerospace industries.
The 3D printing platform offers print speeds of more than 500 mm a second by using a non-slip, high torque extruder system and linear motors. Supplementing the capabilities of the hardware, Essentium has tuned the materials accordingly to process at speed while being strong enough to withstand impact loading, fatigue, or cyclic loading and protect electrostatic-sensitive devices. For example, Essentium has developed high quality, multi-layer structures into its filament to create a no-compromise ESD-safe material for 3D printing that eliminates sloughing conductive particles onto electronic assemblies during manufacturing.
The HSE 3D Printer can compete with CNC machining and can shift from prototyping to full scale production runs.
One Essentium customer has decreased its time to tool by 85% over aluminium tooling and achieved a 97% cost savings over other traditional methods.
