The latest additions to Epson’s SureColor T-Series hit the market earlier this month.
Global printing leader Epson has begun shipping its two newest printer models, the SureColor T3170 24-inch desktop printer and the SureColor T5170 36-inch floor-standing printer, both of which were designed with CAD-focused professionals in mind. The company’s leading-edge tech is on full display in each model, promising to bring heightened precision, speed and quality to a range of prints.
Visually characterized by their compact size, the printers each boast several performance features that make them improvements over their predecessors. Epson’s Nozzle Verification Technology helps deliver commercial-grade quality at an affordable price point. The T3170 and T5170 are also extremely fast, capable of delivering an A1/D-size print in under 34 seconds. Perhaps most significantly, both printers offer seamless wireless integration and feature Epson’s Wi-Fi Direct connectivity. This enables users to toggle between their chosen devices and retain the same printing capability, whether the file is accessed on a desktop, tablet or smartphone.
Early feedback from test users suggests that the devices will live up to their billing in raising productivity. Denn Engineers, a land survey and civil design company, received the T3170 and the corresponding UltraChrome XD2 ink for testing. Its response has been overwhelmingly positive. Among the new printer’s most impressive features, in the firm’s opinion, is its remarkably small size—it easily fits on a desk, allowing for instant hard copy access to the CAD files that Denn often works with. Denn also reported fast and simple setup, an important criterion for AEC firms that might be considering multiple units.
While these printers are especially good for printing blueprints, architectural layouts and the like, Epson thinks the latest iterations of its SureColor plotters have the versatility to be valuable additions to any modern office environment. “The sleek design coupled with dynamic connectivity and fast print speeds make the SureColor T3170 and T5170 a printer designed for and worthy of being displayed in today’s modern office settings,” said Matt Kochanowski, Epson’s professional imaging product manager.
