Microchip MPU-Based System on Module
Microchip unveiled a system on module (SOM) featuring the SAMA5D2 MPU. The ATSAMA5D27-SOM1, which contains the recently released ATSAMA5D27C-D1G-CU system in package (SiP), simplifies design by integrating the power management, non-volatile boot memory, Ethernet PHY and high-speed DDR2 memory onto a small, single-sided printed circuit board (PCB).
The Arm Cortex-A5-based SAMA5D2 SiP, mounted on the SOM PCB or available separately, integrates 1 Gb DDR2 memory, removing the high-speed memory interface constraints from the PCB. The impedance matching is done in the package, not manually during development, so the system will function properly at normal and low-speed operation.

Pasternack End Launch Connectors
Pasternack released a line of removable end launch connectors, ideal for signal integrity measurements, coplanar waveguide, chip evaluations, SERDES, substrate characterization, 25 GbE and test fixture applications.
The series of end launch connectors is comprised of four models that provide voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) as low as 1.10:1 and a maximum operating frequency of 40 to 110 GHz. Connector options include 1.0mm end launch (110 GHz), 1.85mm end launch (67 GHz), 2.92mm end launch (40 GHz) and 2.4mm end launch (50 GHz). These connectors don’t require soldering, are reusable and have a compact profile with a 0.350-inch mounting width.
Information concerning pricing and availability can be found on Pasternack’s website.
RS Components Microcontroller Prototyping Platform
RS Components has partnered with Cypress Semiconductor and MikroElektronika to create Clicker 2 for PSoC 6, the development kit for prototyping with Cypress’ PSoC 6 low-power microcontrollers (MCUs). The PSoC 6 MCUs provide compute performance for energy-conscious devices like Internet of Things (IoT) endpoints or other small battery-powered objects. Its dual-core architecture combines an Arm Cortex M4 and an ArmCortex M0+ on the same chip.
The board contains a PSoC 63 Connectivity Line device, which is Bluetooth 5 compliant and simplifies interfacing with many types of devices. Two separate mikroBUS interface headers ensure ample expandability using MikroElektronika click boards.

TI Flyback Chipset
Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced several power management chips for personal electronics and handheld industrial equipment.Operating at up to 1 MHz, the chipset combines the UCC28780 active clamp flyback controller and UCC24612 synchronous rectifier controller to help cut the size of power supplies in AC/DC adapters and USB power delivery chargers in half.
For battery-powered electronics that need charging efficiency in a small size, the bq25910 6-A three-level buck battery charger enables up to a 60 percent smaller footprint in smartphones, tablets and electronic point-of-sale devices.

Toshiba Client Storage Hard Drives
Toshiba announced the MQ04 Series 2TB1 HDD model MQ04ABD200, designed for use in notebook PCs, all-in-one desktop systems and other applications. The MQ04ABD200 dual-disk model provides 2TB of storage capacity in a 2.5-inch, 9.5mm height form factor.
The drive’s 6Gbit/s3 SATA interface and 5,400rpm performance, combined with a 128MiB4 buffer, result in a 34 percent increase in maximum transfer rates and 50 percent improvement in power efficiency compared to Toshiba’s previous 1TB mobile-class model generation.
