Cypress Semiconductor has announced its EZ-PD Power Adapter Generation 1 (PAG1) device. The PAG1 is an AC-DC power system with an integrated USB Power Delivery (PD) controller. USB-C is the new connectivity standard that can simultaneously power devices as well as transmit data using the same cable and standard reversible connector. USB-C powers devices up to 100W and enables the consolidation of different interfaces on the same port.

Renesas Electronics has launched a radiation-hardened 16-channel current driver with integrated 4-bit decoder for reducing the size, weight and power of satellite command and telemetry systems. The ISL72814SEH includes the decoder, input level shifter and 16 current driver arrays in one monolithic IC. The device allows satellite manufacturers to increase system capacity and cut solution footprint by 50 percent for their medium Earth orbit, geosynchronous Earth orbit, highly elliptical orbit and deep space mission profiles.

STMicroelectronics has unveiled its STM32G4 microcontrollers. Targeted at digital power applications and industrial appliances, the microcontrollers introduce two hardware mathematical accelerators to boost processing of applications using Cordic and Filtering functions among a range of features to support increased performance and energy efficiency.

Dedicated to speeding calculations such as trigonometry for energy-saving motor controls in appliances or air conditioners and filtering for signal conditioning or digital power control, the accelerators compute results faster and more efficiently than the general-purpose main processor. This offloading also frees the core to receive more sensor data and control additional user functions.

TT Electronics has developed its E-Beam welded shunt resistors for industrial and automotive applications. EBW8518 is an electron beam welded resistance element, sandwiched between large copper terminals with optional tin plating. Precision applications can make use of its 1 percent tolerance, 100ppm/°C TCR, 1µV/°C thermal EMF and separate ground pins to reduce errors.
