Intersil Automotive LCD Video Processor

Intersil has announced the TW8844 LCD video processor, which interfaces with the latest generation of automotive SoCs. The TW8844 is an HD 1080p LCD video processor with analog video decoder, two scalers and an MIPI-CSI2 SoC interface.

The TW8844 helps automakers ensure their rear-view camera systems are compliant with the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS-111) for preventing injury or death caused by backover accidents.

In addition, the processor enables the migration from analog to digital camera systems, and supports a variety of video interfaces and LCD panel resolutions up to full HD 1920 x 1080. The TW8844 LCD video processor is suitable for center stack/head units, full display rear-view mirrors, instrument cluster displays and dual headrest rear-seat entertainment systems.

Microsemi Clock Management Fanout Buffers

Microsemi has introduced four miClockBuffer products and three miSmartBuffer products in its portfolio of clock management fanout buffers. The ZL40231, ZL40234, ZL40241 and ZL40260 provide users with single-ended and differential fanout buffers with hardware control pins, while the ZL40230, ZL40235 and ZL40240 offer flexible single-ended and differential outputs (I/Os) and per output control through a serial port.

Microsemi’s seven devices provide pin compatible variants with other vendor products, with the aim of ensuring ease of design and saving additional costs for users. Additional features of the miClockBuffer lineup include:

  • Three inputs: crystal input/inverted micra/high-speed crystal
  • Ten low-voltage positive-referenced emitter coupled logic (LVPECL)/low-voltage differential signals (LVDS)/high-speed current steering logic (HCSL)
  • Low skew and additive jitter of 30 fs RMS (12kHz to 20 mHz)
  • Serial port interface

Pasternack Waveguide Phase Shifters

Pasternack has launched a line of waveguide phase shifters in sizes ranging from WR-42 to WR-10. Typical applications include instrumentation, test benches, product development and characterization.

The family of waveguide shifters is comprised of seven models that operate in the frequency range of 18 GHz to 110 GHz and in 7 waveguide bands from K to W band. They provide phase shift range from 0 to 180 degrees and 1 dB maximum insertion loss. These waveguide phase shifters are constructed of gold-plated brass waveguide material and feature UG flange-style, per military standard. The micrometer allows for precision and repeatable phase settings.

RS Components Arrow Development Boards

RS Components has introduced two SmartEverything (SE) development boards from Arrow. The SE LION IoT development system-on-module (SoM) board and the SE ARIS IoT board both offer support for Internet of Things (IoT) application development.

The SE LION SoM board is based on an Arduino form-factor board that features a Microchip LoRa module, which enables low-data-rate communications to be made over long distances. Features of the board include: the low-power Microchip ARM Cortex-M0+ powered CPU along with Microchip Crypto-Authentication; an 868MHz antenna; a Telit GPS module with embedded antenna; and MEMS accelerometer and gyroscope sensors which provide extra functionality for tracking and monitoring performance.

The SE ARIS IoT board is a complete hardware/software platform built around the high-performance Renesas Synergy S7 Series microcontroller, which features an ARM Cortex-M4 processor running at 240MHz with 4MB of code flash and 640kB SRAM memory. The ARIS board is an all-purpose tool with an Arduino R3 compatible footprint and connections, as well as Arduino extension shields that can be used for implementing extra functionality hardware features.

Toshiba ESD Protection Diodes

Toshiba has introduced a family of multi-bit, low-capacitance electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection diodes for high-speed interfaces. Suitable for use in mobile devices (such as smart phones, tablets and wearable devices), the diodes deliver protection performance and support interfaces including USB 3.0/3.1 and HDMI.

The devices simultaneously deliver low capacitance, low dynamic resistance and high ESD endurance. Minimum signal distortion of high-speed data signals is ensured by the low capacitance of 0.2pF, while a typical dynamic resistance of RDYN=0.5Ω provides low clamping voltages. High ESD protection levels are supported by electrostatic discharge voltages of at least ±20 kV, according to IEC61000-4-2.

This lineup of ESD protection diodes is available in three different package sizes to meet mounting space requirements. The small SOD-962 package is suitable for multi-port applications that are expected to grow, such as USB Type-C; the flow-through DFN10 (2.5×1.0mm) package can reduce the inductance of wires; and the SOD-882 (1.0×1.6mm) package can contribute to slimmer, smaller devices.
