Maxim DC-DC Converter
Maxim has introduced the free EE-Sim DC-DC Converter design and simulation tool. The re-engineered tool allows power designers to create and simulate complex circuits with more confidence. Microchip 64 Megabit Serial Quad I/O Memory
Microchip Technology Inc. has released a 1.8V Serial Quad I/O SuperFlash memory device. The SST26WF064C, a low-voltage 64 megabit device, combines Dual Transfer Rate (DTR) with Microchip’s SuperFlash NOR Flash technology, making it ideal for wireless and battery-powered applications. DTR gives users the ability to output data on both edges of the clock, which reduces overall data access time and power consumption.
SuperFlash technology also reduces power consumption by providing fast erase times. Typical chip erase time for the SST26WF064C is between 35 and 50 milliseconds, whereas similar Flash devices take more than 30 seconds to erase.
Operating at frequencies reaching 104 MHz, the device enables minimum latency execute-in-place capability without the need for code shadowing on Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). The device utilizes a 4-bit multiplexed I/O serial interface to increase performance while maintaining the compact form factor of standard serial Flash devices. The SST26WF064C also supports full command-set compatibility to the traditional Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) protocol.

Nu Plasma Mass Spectrometer
Nu Instruments has released the SAPPHIRE collision/reaction cell multi-collector, inductively coupled mass spectrometer (MC-ICP-MS). SAPPHIRE features a high-energy path that enables the instrument to be used as a traditional Multi-Collector ICP-MS with no compromise in performance, as well as a low-energy path in which the ion beam is directed through a hexapole collision cell for the removal of the ICP-induced molecular species that interfere directly with the atomic ions of the same nominal mass of some non-traditional isotopes.
“The collision-cell capable instrument builds on Nu Instruments’ field-proven Multi-Collector ICP-MS platform, adding unrivaled capabilities to that platform,” notes Dr. Phillip Freedman, Nu Instruments Chief Technology Officer.

Pasternack Low PIM Plenum-Rated Cable Assemblies
Pasternack has launched a line of low-PIM, plenum-rated SPP-250-LLPL cable assemblies for use in wireless infrastructure. Typical applications include distributed antenna systems (DAS), indoor wireless systems, multi-carrier communication systems and PIM testing.
The 36 low PIM jumper cables are made with UL910 plenum-rated SPP-250-LLPL cable and feature a maximum PIM level of -155 dBc. PIM levels have been fully tested with PIM test results marked on each cable.
These cables deliver a maximum operating frequency of 6 GHz and a maximum VSWR of 1.25:1 up to 2 GHz and 1.35:1 up to 6 GHz. They are offered with 4.3-10, 7/16 DIN, N and 4.1-9.5 mini-DIN connector combinations including right-angle connectors. These low PIM cable assemblies are lightweight, flexible and can operate in a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

Sunpower Active Vibration Cancellation for CryoTel Cryocoolers
Sunpower has introduced an Active Vibration Cancellation (AVC) system for its CryoTel MT, CT and GT cryocoolers. The AVC system’s active balancer uses a feedback signal from an accelerometer to cancel the first 10 harmonics of the 60 Hz operation of the cryocooler, minimizing vibration at the cold tip as well as exported vibration to its mounting structure.
The AVC system includes a controller, an active balancer and an accelerometer, as well as the necessary cabling for power and instrumentation. The controller drives both the cryocooler and the active balancer. The system is backward compatible with any CryoTel CT, MT, and GT cryocooler. The AVC system is a drop-in replacement for the standard passive balancer already offered on Sunpower cryocoolers.
CryoTel Cryocoolers with AVC systems have been used for applications that require extremely low vibrations, such as laser cooling, infrared detectors, spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction, among others.
