Hitachi has announced the development of active-learning dialogue data-based AI technology to enable EMIEW3, Hitachi’s human symbiotic service robot, to spontaneously “learn” how to respond to questions that it could not previously answer. EMIEW3 clarifies the meaning of enquiries with related staff through dialogue interaction, and in the process, automatically increases its dialogue contents to increase “comprehension” for appropriate responses.

Hitachi is currently developing EMIEW3 to use in customer service and guidance settings. Using this technology, EMIEW3’s dialogue contents can be enhanced by staff without specialist training, simply by responding to queries posed by EMIEW3, and was found to reduce labor-hours for this process to about one-tenth the time previously needed. Further, this technology allows EMIEW3 to learn more quickly about products or facilities which may change daily, as well as increase comprehension and correctly respond to customer enquiries.

Maxim will be present at the international VDI Congress ELIV (Electronics in Vehicles) in Bonn, Germany to demonstrate its automotive designs for mixed signal and analog solutions for the car of the future.

Maxim will provide technology demonstrations in the following areas:

  • Gigabit multimedia serial link (GMSL) serializer and deserializer (SerDes) technology, which supports the bandwidth, interconnect and data integrity requirements for future automotive infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
  • Remote tuner architecture with single hardware platform, which reduces cables and simplifies vehicle head unit design while enhancing radio performance and supporting worldwide radio standards for automotive applications.

Pasternack has unveiled a series of low insertion loss repeatability electromechanical switches. The 12 models of electromechanical switches cover broadband frequencies from DC to 40 GHz. They exhibit low insertion loss repeatability with levels of 0.03 to 0.05 dB over 5 to 10 million switching cycles depending on the model.

The switches are offered in three configurations: single-pole double-throw (SPDT), single-pole four-throw (SP4T) and single-pole six-throw (SP6T). They are designed with latching actuators and features that include indicators, self-cut-off, TTL and 50 Ohm terminations. Their performance includes low insertion loss of 0.3 dB with isolation of 100 dB typical, and input power ratings of up to 70 watts CW and up to 1 watt for hot switching applications.

These compact coaxial package assemblies are RoHS and REACH compliant, shielded for EMI/RFI suppression and magnetic fields. They meet a series of MIL-STD-202 environmental test conditions that include exposure to temperature cycle, humidity, altitude, vibration and shock. Depending on the model and frequency, these electromechanical switches are available with SMA or 2.92mm connectors. Some models support ribbon cable assemblies for DC, indicator, and TTL logic controls. All models are export rated as EAR99.

Information concerning pricing and availability can be found on Pasternack’s website.

RS Components Industrial Control Mechanisms

RS Components has released the current generation of the Siemens SIRIUS line of industrial control products. The modular system offers a range of control panel products with combinations to cover various possible application. Sizes S00, S0, S2 and S3 up to 55kW have been further developed, and the system offers additional features to meet the current application requirements.

The SIRIUS system provides simple wiring to save installers both money and time. The units fit together easily, avoiding problems when combining different products together. The flexible in-feed system (for S0 and S00) uses screw-type and spring-loaded connections, allowing assembly without the use of tools.

Additional capabilities of the series include readiness for the IE3/IE4 generation of motors; a range of snap-on function modules, including communication units; as well as current-monitoring relays for the S00, S0 and S2 units, which can be directly integrated onto the load feeders.

Toshiba has announced the 10TB MG06 Series Enterprise Capacity HDD model line-up. Toshiba’s MG06 series offers a 25 percent capacity increase compared to prior generations and enables models to be delivered at multiple capacity points to better leverage capacity refresh qualification cycles for OEMs/ODMs infrastructure builders, cloud solution providers (CSPs) and system integrators.

The 10TB MG06 Series has a greater maximum sustained transfer rate of 237 MiB/s2, as well as a 25 percent increase in MTTF3, with a rating of 2.5M hours. The drive provides a SATA 6Gbit/s interface and 7,200 rpm performance. Additionally, the MG06 HDD supports emulated 512 Advanced Format (512e) technology for compatibility with legacy applications and operating environments; or 4K native sector technology for optimum performance in all-disk or hybrid storage platforms.
