Dynapac, Leica Geosystems launch automated steering for asphalt pavers

This partnership combines Dynapac paving equipment with Leica Geosystems' machine control tech to improve paving precision and efficiency.

Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, and Dynapac have announced that auto-steering and screed edge control features on Dynapac asphalt pavers are now compatible with the Leica iCON pave solution. The integrated system will be available on the Dynapac SD25 and XD25 Highway Paver series, which will be introduced at Bauma 2025.

The partnership is intended to improve the accuracy and efficiency of asphalt paving by integrating Dynapac’s paving equipment with Leica Geosystems’ machine control technology. The addition of auto-steering and edge control features allows pavers to follow digital stringline models with high precision, reducing reliance on traditional string-and-pin setups and supporting more consistent, cost-effective operations.

Auto-steering and screed edge control for a higher-quality surface

With the Leica iCON pave machine control system, operators benefit from automated guidance and precise screed width adjustments based on a digital stringing design. The system enhances site sustainability by optimizing material usage, minimizing waste, and ensuring more accurate material estimation throughout the paving process. Moreover, it enhances safety by eliminating physical hazards such as stringlines, pins and other marking materials from the job site.
