If you attend the MD&M West show in Anaheim in February, be sure to check out a new 3D printer, the X1000 developed by 3DP Unlimited, at booth 4576. Claiming to be one of the larger print bed 3D printers, the X1000 has a build table of 1 x 1 x 0.5 m (39 x 39 x 19 in.). Layer resolution is to 50 microns when printing with PLA material. Future configurations will allow printing in other materials, such as ABS.
Using open source control platforms, this printer is robust, thanks to the use of SIMO Series linear actuators from PBC Linear. These linear actuators help enable this printer to achieve that layer resolution on meter-sized parts, note Mark Heubner, Marketing and Market Development Manager at PBC Linear.
A number of desktop sized 3D printers use PBC Linear components to deliver stability and keep accuracy high and resolution fine.
