Can desktop 3D printers really meet the needs of professional engineers? Vendors are sure trying to make this happen. Quite a few companies are introducing what they claim are professionally focused desktop 3D printers. A number of them will be on display at the RAPID + TCT 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing show in Pittsburgh, PA May 8-11, 2017.
One example is the MakerGear M3. Geared to operate 24/7, features of this desktop printer include True-Leveling, wifi connectivity, wireless control, and an integrated user interface. The M3 comes in two formats targeting advanced and new users: M3 Independent Dual (M3-ID) and M3 Single Extrusion (M3-SE).
The M3 Independent Dual offers an independent (rather than fixed) dual extrusion system, which helps double production speed for single-material prints using the M3-ID’s Mimeo Mode.
For those looking to keep it simple, the M3-SE has a rigid steel frame for durability and precision and a high-temperature V4 hot end for material versatility.
