Designer Edge Image of the Day – Solar Power ‘Round the World Flight

The Solar Impulse airplane has a wingspan that is larger than a Boeing 747. Every inch of the top of its wings is covered in photo-voltaic cells which power the craft. In just a few days the Solar Impulse will take off in Mountain View, California in its first attempt at a non-stop round-the-world flight.
