Researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), who are known for their microscale objects, have created one of the world’s smallest jigsaw puzzle. The puzzles 3 pieces, each under a millimeter in size was created using LIGA X-Ray lithography.
The LIGA process, created in the 1980s at KIT, is a combination of lithography, electroplating and molding that can create objects on a very small scale. In the LIGA process X-Ray sensitive polymers are exposed to X-Rays to create mold that can be used to mass produce miniatures.
