Solar Impulse, the Swiss solar powered aircraft, has completed its journey across the US landing at New York’s JFK on July 6.
Over the course of the last 2 months Solar Impulse has travelled 3,511 miles (5,530-km) during 105 hours and 41 minutes of flight time. At an average speed of 33.14mph (53.34 km/h) the Solar Impulse isn’t likely to be travel option anytime soon. However, flying the better part of 4,000 miles without using a single drop of fuel is a pretty impressive feat.
Beyond that fact that solar powered flight is possible Solar Impulse has also debuted a few other interesting technologies including its mobile, inflatable hangar.
