Designer Edge Image of the Day – 4-8-13 – Ion Engines

MIT recently announced that they are developing an Ionic thruster which could replace conventional jet engines. A traditional jet engine generates 2N/kW of thrust but ionic engines have been demonstrated to produce 110N/kW of thrust. Add to that the fact that ionic engines are silent and you’ve got the makings of a stealthy propulsion device.
