The Yevpatoria RT-70 telescope and planetary radar was a centerpiece of Soviet astronomical research. It’s 70m antenna makes it one of the largest radio telescopes in the world. In addition it also contains powerful transmitters making it one of only two telescopes in the world that’s able to transmit to extraterrestrial civilizations.
