Dassault Systèmes Opens North American 3DEXPERIENCE Lab

Dassault Systèmes will unveil its North American 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, a state-of-the-art open innovation laboratory and startup accelerator, at a grand opening celebration today from 3:30-6:00 p.m. on the Dassault Systèmes Waltham Campus. Announced earlier this year, the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab equips startups, entrepreneurs, students, makers and individuals from industrial innovation departments or research laboratories based anywhere in North America, whose projects address city, life, lifestyle, the internet of things, Fab Labs or ideation themes, with the hardware and technology they need to design and engineer the yet to be imagined products of tomorrow.

Located just outside Boston, the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab will provide participants with access to Dassault Systèmes’ cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform, technical skills, mentoring and worldwide ecosystem, as part of one- or two-year programs to accelerate their product development. The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab currently includes 12 sitting workbenches and 10 standing work surfaces in addition to critical tools such as 3D printers, laser engravers and a robotic arm.

Dassault Systèmes’ worldwide footprint and ecosystem, including this new lab and the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab at the company’s headquarters in France, will help accelerate the startups’ product launches and international presence. Dassault Systèmes recognizes that the way products are designed and engineered is evolving at lightning speed, and the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab will further the company’s goal of helping every engineer and designer create the world that never was before.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab houses a digital fabrication space designed and set up in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Bits and Atoms. Joining the more than 1,000 Fab Labs throughout the world, it provides innovators with access to state-of-the art computer-controlled tools and processes to create product prototypes or refine their product ideas. Dr. Neil Gershenfeld, director of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms, will speak at the event.

In addition to networking opportunities and a tour of the Lab, the invitation-only event will feature honored guests and comments from Dassault Systèmes’ executives including:

  • Bruno Latchague, Senior Executive Vice President, Global Field Operations (Americas)
  • Suchit Jain, Vice President, Strategy and Community, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS
  • Marie Planchard, Director of Education and Early Engagement, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS
