D-Cubed Lets Mold and Die Makers Simulate Motion Studies

Vero Software, provider of the CAD/CAM software VISI 21, has licensed Siemens’s D-Cubed software to improve their motion simulation studies. By integrating D-Cubed’s Assembly Engineering Manager (AEM) and Collision Detection Manager (CDM) directly into VISI 21, the workflows for mold and die engineers should be improved.

The addition of D-Cubed will allow engineers to simulate the interaction, collisions and operations of mold and die components such as cams, fixtures, lifters, racks and sliders. D-Cubed’s AEM will be able to calculate the effect of forces and engineering devices while in motion. VISI 21 can then model the effects of springs and CAM mechanism. CDM will then be able to assess the collision detections during the motions.

“VISI customers need to model the complex motion of parts in mold and die assemblies accurately and rapidly,” said Marco Cafasso, product development manager at Vero. “Using our graphic timeline, operators can control the start and end movement cycles for various groups of components. The D-Cubed team worked extensively with our development team to optimize the performance of AEM and CDM in this demanding use-case. The integration of these simulation programs into an industry-specific tool like VISI 21 follows the trend in CAE to create comprehensive silo-specific tools. The idea is to give professionals all the tools they need to perform their job within a single platform. They do not need to know how the complex parts of the platform work, as with simulation, they only need to know how they all interact.
