Creaform Opens a U.S. Automated Quality-Control Demonstration Center

Creaform unveils a station that is available for benchmarks and product demonstrations.

Creaform’s production of 3D software and hardware products made the company a prominent provider of automated and portable 3D measurement solutions. Headquartered in Lévis, Quebec, the company inaugurated its new U.S. benchmark and demonstration center for its 3D inspection cell, the CUBE-R. Located in Alabama, the CUBE-Rwill be available for benchmarks and product demonstrations.

According to TCT Magazine, Creaform launched a CUBE-R demonstration center in Stuttgart at the end of 2018. CUBE-R is a powerful and turnkey automated inspection solution that assists suppliers and manufacturers in detecting assembly issues during production to mitigate expensive quality products after delivery.

The key feature of the CUBE-R allows manufacturers to use it for vast applications such as casting, sheet metal and composite part inspections because the demonstration center is an efficient and reliable alternative to coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Creaform stationed the center at the Alabama Robotics Technology Park (RTP). The CUBE-R is an accredited test facility for the American Welding Society and is the result of a collaboration between Alabama Community College System, the state of Alabama, AIDT, as well as national robotics industry leaders.

The RTP contains three training facilities that target the needs of the industry. Brad Kaiser, Creaform’s automated quality control manager, said, “More and more manufacturers in the automotive industry are requiring that their Tier 1 suppliers provide inspection analyses prior to receiving part shipments. There is also an increasing demand for end-to-end part traceability in order to correct issues quickly and prove product quality. Thanks to the CUBE-R, suppliers can leverage the power of automated inspections and sophisticated optical 3D measurements to cater to manufacturers’ inspection and quality needs.”

According to Creaform 3D, the company will use CUBE-R to demonstrate the use of the automated 3D scanning CMM in production operations while RPT uses the measurement cell to enhance its R&D and training service offering. Jarrod Schmidt, Creaform USA national sales manager, said, “This new demonstration center, which follows on the heels of the inauguration of our first CUBE-R demonstration center, gives our U.S. and Latin American clients unprecedented access to the fastest and most accurate turnkey 3D scanning CMM on the market.”
