Coreform’s President Named Highly Cited Researcher

OREM, UT, Jan 13, 2022 – Coreform LLC, developer of next-generation computer-aided engineering software, announces that one of its co-founders has been named a highly cited researcher by Clarivate for the sixth consecutive year.

Clarivate Plc, a global leader in providing trusted information and insights to accelerate the pace of innovation, recently released its 2021 list of Highly Cited Researchers. This list includes Dr. Michael A. Scott, co-founder and president of Coreform LLC. Dr. Scott has appeared on this list in the field of Computer Science every year since 2016 for his work on isogeometric analysis (IGA), a next-generation approach to computer simulation. 2021 marks the first year Dr. Scott has been recognized as a “cross-field” researcher,  which means he is among the most cited in more than one academic field.

“This speaks to the importance of isogeometric analysis for industries from manufacturing to automotive to biomedical research,” says Dr. Scott. “There is a ton of interest in using new techniques to reduce production time and increase safety for customers, and IGA research bears directly on real-world improvements for industry.”

The methodology that determines the “who’s who” of influential researchers draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate. The Highly Cited Researchers’ names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index. The annual list identifies some 6,600 researchers from across the globe who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. About 2,800 of those researchers are specified as having equivalent influence in more than one academic field.

Coreform CEO Matt Sederberg notes, “Dr. Scott’s IGA research is not just academic; it has real, measurable, engineering benefits. Coreform was co-founded by Dr. Scott to bridge the gap between mathematical theory and production software, and this recognition from Clarivate highlights the importance of the work Coreform is doing.”

Joel Haspel, SVP Strategy, Science at Clarivate said: “This year’s data reflect a decade’s worth of research publications from the global scientific community. As well as documenting the ‘Eureka!’ moments, our data tell the story of late nights spent filling in grant applications, poring over results in the lab, the unsung work of peer reviewing contemporaries’ manuscripts, and the many small failures that ultimately lead to bigger successes and accelerating innovation.”
