Modo 401 from Luxology offers rendering updates such as caustics, disperation, blurry refraction, volumetric lighting, and Pixar-patented deep shadows. The new Instance Replicators allow dense amounts of surface detail such as welds and rivets to be rendered with trillion polygon detail. Light linking and support for multiple environments provides control over how each part of a scene is individually lit. The software also supports stereoscopic rendering and can render up to 32 cores across a network of 50 workstations.
Most modeling tools in modo software support per vertex collision with geometry.
Animation improvements include inverse kinematics, dynamic parenting, channel constraints, and modifiers. You can create sophisticated rigs that can be driven with a few simple inputs. For example, a tank model can be rigged to track and turn accurately across undulating terrain while maintaining realistic tread and wheel movement. Pre-built animation assemblies help you automatically apply animation to models.
Modo 401 offers more than 1,500 functions including profile curves, realistic surface finishes, 3D props, vegetation, animated rigs, and professionally designed lighting environments.
An extended modeling toolset allows you to leverage modo to retopologize dense meshes into production-ready models. New profile presets simplify modeling details such as crown moldings or complex bevels. You can generate many material appearances including hair, bristles, fur, water droplets, string, and grass. Carbon fiber and high gloss clear coat surfaces help improve customer product visualizations. File exchange improvements include Collada, FBX, 3DM, and SolidWork 2009 file importer for Windows.
