Consumables Drive Global EDM Growth

Global EDM to focus on growing machines business following consumables merger with Makino.

Global EDM, Inc. recently announced that it will focus on solidifying and growing its electrical discharge machining (EDM) business following the merger of its EDM consumables division with SST, Makino’s consumables group.

Headquartered in Mason, Ohio, Global EDM, Inc. is the exclusive US and Canada importer of the Excetek line of EDM wire and sinker machines as well as exclusive US distributor of Ocean EDM drills. In addition, Global EDM offers a range of Beaumont Fast Hole EDM Drill machines as well as precise electrochemical machining (PECM).

The announcement comes on the heels of Global EDM Supplies’ merger with Makino’s SST, the purpose of which is to provide the companies’ customers with broader geographic reach, greater product diversity and increased accessibility to technical services and support.

The Global EDM Supplies consumables catalogue includes more than 3,000 different EDM parts and supplies, including wire, filters, wear parts, resin, fluid and lubricants, and electrodes.

The Integration of Global EDM Supplies into SST, is expected to be completed by Q1 of 2017. SST and Global support and services will continue to operate uninterrupted across all regions and locations.
