Clean, Consistent Additive Surfaces: Vapor Smoothing for Faster, Cost-Effective Post Processing

RAPID+TCT 2023: Protolabs applications engineer Eric Utley on a novel and efficient way to finish resin additive parts.

For many applications, additively manufactured parts lack the finish needed for end use and must be post processed. Vapor smoothing selectively dissolves the surface layer of resin and flows a smooth surface that may be used as is, or painted. Protolabs applications engineer Eric Utley showed the finish possible with this technique.
