Edgecam 2010 version 1.0 offers enhanced automatic feature recognition for tool path generation from imported models. The software now recognizes an increased number of features including any area that has multiple open sides. Feature properties such as depth, radius/chamfer, and minimum/maximum radius helps you select appropriate tooling and cycle parameters.
The new product is reported to eliminate manual boundary settings. Several customer-driven enhancements have been added to the thread milling cycle including cutter radius compensation. This feature helps you align the tool selected offline with the tool to be used on the shop floor.
Finish turning cycles have also been improved to help you develop tool paths more efficiently. A new “peck across” option has been added to the rough grooving cycle. It is designed to improve material removal rate and prolong tool life. A new graphical user interface for all turning operations is reported to be easy to use.
You select tools within the Strategy Manager. The detail view feature provides a scaled up balloon of a model so you can examine any part of a model and highlight specific details associated with the manufacturing and assembly process. A new feature annotation function expands Part Modeler’s design capabilities so you can extract design data such as tolerances and apply them automatically to the drawing.
The software supports Windows 7. It also offers a new Code Wizard for the Siemens 840D ShopMill.
The latest version of Edgecam software features many updates for the machining world.
