The software enables you to create nested, associative sections and 2D views. They may be placed in paper spaces, hatched, dimensioned, and annotated.

For example, the drafting palette allows you to create associative 2D sections based on standard views or sectional planes of 3D surface or ACIS solid models, including XREFs and imported models from ADT and Google SketchUp. New node editing options include equal curvatures-at-point, non-equal curvature-at-point, and non-smooth-at-point. Dimension scaling in Paper Space now matches scale from Model Space to ensure accurate dimensioning of displayed entities. A format painter allows you to automatically extract and save selected formats as preset property values for any object property type.

The ACIS solid modeling engine is updated to version 18. A quick pull feature lets you select any enclosed geometry on a 3D face and then press or pull it out of the design. A helix tool helps you draw 2D and 3D spirals. You can split a 3D curve into two pieces. It can come in handy for extracting extrusion or sweep profiles from part of a larger curve.

Improved architectural features include right/left and inside/outside flip options in node editing. Vertical alignment properties have been added, as well as head and sill height for windows head and threshold heights for doors.

The database connect palette is a data link to any source including open database connectivity (ODBC) database, Excel, CSV, SQL, Access, Oracle, and Sequel Server on either local machines or a company network. You can reference data in a table and data associated to objects. CAD files automatically update with changes to external databases. This function can improve bill of material handling and real time pricing. There are improved .DWG/DXF import/export functions including the ability to export XREFs with .DWG or .DXF drawings.
