Top projects get recognition from independent panel of judges in Singapore at YII2017 conference
The Bentley Year in Infrastructure Conference 2017 drew to a close on 12th October at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, with a ceremony for the winners of the annual Be Inspired for BIM Advancements in Infrastructure awards.
After a delicious dinner and some light entertainment (including a local dragon dance, and a few popular songs rejigged with infrastructure-themed lyrics, sang by Bentley’s Chief Communications Officer Chris Barron) the event moved onto the business of announcing the winners.
The contest has been running since 2004, and focuses on projects that have used Bentley Systems’ software to make a difference in the world of infrastructure. The Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore was itself a winner of the Be Inspired Innovation in Structures award in 2010, so it is poignant that the ceremony should one day end up here.
This year there were 17 categories all related to BIM Advancements in Infrastructure, ranging from awards for bridges, rail and transit, power generation, roads and a whole lot more (see winners section below for details). In addition, there were 6 Special Recognition awards for a variety of projects.
This year, ten independent jury panels comprising distinguished industry experts selected the 51 finalists from more than 400 nominations submitted by organizations in more than 50 countries.
And the winners for each main category in 2017 are as follows…
