Autodesk announced several updates to its products. For Autodesk Fusion 360, the company is expanding the manufacturing constraints for generative design to include 2- and 2.5-axis machining. This expands who can use this feature because most CNC mills offer 2 and 2.5 axes.

Working with Autodesk Netfabb and Fusion 360, designers can also use generative design with HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printers. The programs streamline the conversion of digital design to physical part, smoothing the workflow.

Autodesk is also working with GE Additive to simplify metal additive manufacturing. The two companies have agreed to collaborate on an integrated workflow for GE Additive machines. The solution will be based on the Fusion 360 platform.

GE Additive software algorithms, interfaces, and specialized data models will offer predictive insights, and indicate cost and timeline projections in the early stages of design.
