Tech startup CAD.ai offers a set of Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for companies that use Computer Aided Design (CAD) to develop products, services and apps. These SaaS-based APIs can be used for fixing broken 3D files and converting CAD files to print-ready formats to viewing a 3D model in a virtual reality environment.
CAD.ai’s APIs are targeted at companies that use or want to add CAD/CAM features to their services but lack time to develop an in-house solution.
The APIs can help users get their CAD files ready for manufacturing in a short time. CAD.ai strives to provide tools that improve the quality of 3D models and provide valuable information about a 3D model, such as its dimensions, volume and bounding box size.
“We are very proud to offer developer-friendly APIs that don’t require a huge team of experts or hours in front of the computer to integrate. With our straightforward documentation, the whole process takes about 5 minutes,” said Michael Golubev, CEO and founder of CAD.ai, adding that the “ultimate goal is to maximize efficiency and give developers the tools to create new and exciting products.”
The API platform has received positive feedback from its early adopters, some of which include MakeXYZ, Envirolaser, TreatStock, DroneDeploy, Autotiv and Tiertime. The early adopters tested out and implemented 3D Viewer, Model Repair API, CAD File Converter, Parameter Extractor and Thumbnail Generator.
Stephen Burke, Executive at Envirolaser Ltd, confirmed from his experience that “The WordPress plugin setup took less than 5 minutes.”
Vice President of Autotiv, Evan LaBelle, emphasized the usefulness of the 3D Viewer, calling it very impressive.
