The CMS recently announced its selection of 25 technical papers for the conference, to be presented by scientists and metrology experts. Metrology topics to be covered include:

  • Best practices
  • Techniques
  • Trends
  • Technology breakthroughs

To whet your appetite, here are a few presentation titles:

  • Data Analysis Techniques for Critical Aircraft Assembly Features
  • Metrology Controlling Aircraft Shape Technology (MCAST)
  • Metrology – The Invisible Keystone of Civilization
  • Photogrammetric Measurement of A350 Brackets and Riggings

The complete CMSC technical presentation lineup can be found here.

New Education Zone at CMSC 2016

In addition to its Measurement Zone, the CMSC will also include a new Education Zone. These two zones are designed to engage attendees through various activities during the conference, including knowledge-based contests and hands-on competitions using portable metrology systems.

The Education Zone will also feature an eLearning platform for metrologists, using instructional tablets and materials. Attendees can study a variety of metrology topics, from measurement uncertainty to strategic measurement plans. Hands-on workshops and certification programs will also be available.

The Measurement Zone features programs to support the continuing education and practical methodology needs of specialists, technicians, managers, certified operators and programmers. This year’s Measurement Zone will be divided into three regions:

  • Zone 1 showcases metrology equipment
  • Zone 2 features a robot used for automated measurement programming
  • Zone 3 is the “Competition Zone” offers attendees the chance to utilize portable metrology equipment to perform defined measurement tasks on an automobile chassis
