America Makes, with Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and GE Research (GE), announce a three-month extension of the submission deadline for the Open Source-Additive Scanning Implementation Strategy (OASIS) Challenge, worth $68K in total funding. Submissions are now due on March 1, 2021.
“The decision to grant a three-month extension was an easy one given the unique dynamics of the year,” said America Makes Executive Director John Wilczynski. “The focus area of this challenge is of great interest and importance to AFRL and the industry at large. With the additional time, we look forward to receiving submissions with even more innovative and synthesized approaches.”
The OASIS Challenge seeks the submission of open-source computer codes and algorithms to help advance laser-based powder bed additive manufacturing (AM).
REVISED Challenge Timeline and Details:
• Submissions due: March 1, 2021
• Code language accepted: Python, Java, C# and C++
• Review and scoring: July 1, 2021
• Evaluation criteria: Part porosity, tensile strength, ductility, surface finish, geometric fidelity, code quality, code run speed
• Awards announced: September 7, 2021
o 1st Place: $25,500
o 2nd Place: $15,500
o 3rd Place: $10,500
o 3 Honorable Mentions: $5,500 each
