ALGOR 23 software for CAE simulation offers many improved modeling features, including a smart bonded contact that uses multi-point constraints to bond surfaces of unmatched meshes. This feature helps make hand-built models easier to tie together and CAD models easier to mesh. Models created in ThinkDesign can be opened in ALGOR for fully associative analysis. A new utility generates vertices and beams to replace non-essential surfaces, which helps reduce model size and promotes faster analysis. Additional material models (Ogden and Mooney-Rivlin hyperelastic and viscoelastic) for membrane elements expand nonlinear analysis capabilities for rubber materials. For flow analysis, you can define multiple prescribed velocities using separate load curves for increased control and flexibility.
Upgraded analysis features include expanded implementation of the multifrontal massively parallel solver (MUMPS) for distributed memory systems on Linux and Windows clusters, using both in-core and out-of-core memory for solving linear and nonlinear stress and fluid flow models. An improved 2D steady fluid flow analysis applies all the capabilities of the 3D processor to 2D models including faster solving for fluid flow with high Reynolds numbers and turbulence.
Additions to results include stress and strain results for midside nodes. They can be displayed and provide additional data for examining model behavior. Beam code checking for Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) verifies compliance with the industry-standard AISC ASD structural code. Improved report-generation lets you save selected results directly to the report as a custom appendix.
Here are several other additional capabilities found in ALGOR version 23:
• Added support for Red Hat Enterprise Linus 5.2
• Additional materials including fluid, MIL-STD metal, K-340, and composite materials
• Thermal contact in 2D models
• Export reports to DOCXML format for viewing in Microsoft Word
• Improved support for Alibre Design, Autodesk Inventor, KeyCreator, Rhinoceros, and SpaceClaim
• Improved support for industry-standard piping codes
• Improved capability for exporting results to NASTRAN
