The new WAYV radars offer short-, mid-, and long-range detection for IoT applications.
Radar technology company Ainstein recently announcedWAYV, a newfamily of IoT radar products. The WAYV lineup includes three radar modules for short-, mid-, and long-range detection, called the WAYV Air, WAYV, and WAYV Pro, respectively.
Each sensor was designed for particular functions that are ideal for certain applications. Here’s a rundown of each:
WAYV Air
The WAYV Air is a compact short-range sensor that employs 60GHz radar sensing technology. It is designed to run on minimal power and is capable of detecting and tracking people both indoors and outdoors. According to Ainstein, this makes the Air ideal for applications in building automation, space utilization, and safety and security.
WAYV and WAYV Pro
The WAYV and WAYV Pro are mid- and long-range sensors with integrated high performance radar processors and Ainstein’s proprietary advanced radar processing algorithms.
Compared to the WAYV Air, the WAYV and WAYV Pro can detect and track vehicles and pedestrians more reliably and with increased accuracy. Additionally, the sensors can perform more successfully in challenging weather conditions. According to Ainstein, this makes the sensors ideal for surveillance, intelligent traffic management, and other smart city applications.
WAYV Applications
According to Ainstein, the WAYV sensors are more reliable and capable of covering a wider range than sensors that use ultrasonic technologies. According to the company, one WAYV sensor is more capable and accurate than several ultrasonic sensors.
“Ainstein is continuously reinventing how radar technology can be deployed to supplement and replace other technologies, as well as how it can enable new applications entirely,” saidAinstein’s Andrew Boushie. “The new solutions announced today break new ground in the performance of their respective functions.”
Ainstein anticipates the WAYV sensors being used in traffic management, surveillance and security, space utilization, and building automation, and more.
In the retail sector, the WAYV sensors can track the flow of customers and generate data. This information could be used to optimize store layouts, potentially resulting in increased sales. In the hospitality industry, or even office environments, the WAYV sensors can provideinformation on how spaces can be optimally utilized.In emergency and rescue situations, the sensors can be useful in locating victims.
Ainstein also revealed that the WAYV sensors are not equipped with facial recognition software, making it impossible to identify specific individuals. This is to ensure compliance with privacy protection protocols.
