The Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) has announced its 2014—2015 board and that its 2015 Education & Training Conference will be held in Jacksonville, Florida from April 19 – 23, 2015.
The new board members, elected during the Tucson, Arizona, conference by AMUG members, are:
• President: Mark Barfoot, Hyphen
• Past President: Bret Bordner, Laser Reproductions
• Vice President: Steve Deak, GE Aviation
• Vice President: Dana Foster, rp+m
• Secretary: Kim Killoran, Stratasys
• Event Manager: Thomas Sorovetz, Chrysler Group
Immediately after the elections, the following individuals were appointed to the board:
• Advisor: Mark Abshire, Somos Materials by DSM
• Advisor: Gary Rabinovitz, Reebok International
• AM Industry Advisor: Todd Grimm, T. A. Grimm & Associates
“I am honored to be taking on this leadership role for AMUG,” said Mark Barfoot, president. “This is a group of industry experts and professionals who are raising the bar in additive manufacturing around the world. We just closed off a very successful conference with 531 attendees from 15 countries. Even with 283 first-time attendees, we maintained the open, collaborative and supportive environment that the AMUG Conference is known for. I’m looking forward to working with this board to develop new ideas and create an even more successful 2015 conference.”
The new board’s primary responsibilities will involve building the program for the 2015 conference and overseeing the event’s day-to-day activities. The venue for the upcoming users group conference will be the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. The five-day event will include a two-night exhibitor expo, hands-on workshops, instructional sessions, technical presentations and an Awards Banquet gala.
“We are expecting significant growth for next year’s conference, and the Hyatt Jacksonville can certainly accommodate the anticipated numbers,” said Thomas Sorovetz, event manager. “We held our 2013 conference at this facility, and everyone enjoyed it and the Jacksonville attractions.”
