New RoboMasters app helps beginners and experts train remotely in robotics skills.

ABB launched RoboMasters, a new app-based training tool designed to provide greater flexibility in learning how to program and operate ABB robots. The app offers access to multiple ABB robot training courses, delivered in modules, allowing users to customize their training based on experience and pace.
Developing in-house expertise to manage robots can be challenging for businesses considering automation. In a global survey of 1,650 companies by ABB Robotics*, 34% of respondents cited a lack of skills and concerns about complexity as challenges in adopting robots. Of these, 29% said they would reconsider their decision if training were available.
The RoboMasters app extends these physical training courses, offering a mobile tool for users to create and manage learning paths. Designed for users of all skill levels, the app allows customized learning paths with features like instructional videos, news feeds, and a discussion forum for peer and trainer interactions.
Available in over 50 languages, course materials are presented in a variety of formats, including interactive lessons, simulations, and challenges to enhance the user’s robotics expertise. To maximize user engagement and interaction, the app also utilizes social learning techniques like gamification, competition, rewards, achieving targets, and ranking. As with ABB’s in-person training courses, users will receive a certificate on passing all modules within a course unit, which can be used as proof of competence in programming and using ABB robots.
