At the NASA Space Food Systems Laboratory, scientists carefully weigh the nutritional needs of astronauts against the reality of zero-gravity.
Because spaceships are filled with vital but delicate equipment, even the smallest drop of jam could find its way into the circuitry of a multi-million dollar instrument. For this reason, one of the SFSL’s highest priorities is careful packaging. Over the years, Space Food has come a long way from its humble beginnings as “tubes and cubes”.
