If you attend the 3D Systems User Group (3DSUG) conference next week
(April 3-7), you can hear Dr. Ofer Shochet, executive vice president, Objet
Geometries Ltd., discuss new trends for rapid prototyping. Dr. Shochet will
talk about the latest rapid prototyping requirements of Fortune 500 organizations and leading service bureaus and how inkjet-based multi-material 3D printing is generating a significant change in the visualization and testing of product designs.

The 2011 3DSUG Conference brings together operators and owners from leading companies to encourage and coordinate technical information exchange on rapid prototyping technologies. The event is being held at the Miami downtown Hilton from April 3rd to April 7th.
Shochet will present Objet’s recent multi-material technology breakthrough; an ABS-like material simulating the performance of engineering plastics, and how these improved material and mechanical properties will change the world of 3D printing. Dr. Shochet will also reveal a number of substantial investments Objet has made in R&D to meet the stringent prototyping requirements of global companies worldwide.
Objet is also a sponsor of the event and will participate in the vendor fair, showcasing the new Objet24 Desktop 3D printer, which can create true-to-life models and prototypes with precise details and smooth surfaces.
Also on display will be the Objet Connex500, which jets multiple materials simultaneously. This 3D printer lets you create a range of up to 51 rigid and rubber-like composite materials, –or “Digital Materials” featuring a wide range of Shore scale A values for rubber like simulation, a gray shade scale for rigid material simulation, and polypropylene simulation in terms of mechanical properties. You can create models with as many as 14 different material properties in one part while also creating prototypes with overmolds and soft touch areas in a single build.
Additionally, Objet will showcase a number of upcoming new materials featuring improved mechanical and thermal properties, true transparency and properties simulating engineering plastics. The company will also be hosting an onsite hands-on technical seminar to the highlight best practices for maintaining Objet 3D printers.
