NVIDIA Confirms Issues Surrounding GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Graphic Cards

Expectations for NVIDIA were high this year. Their groundbreaking RTX line of ray tracing technology and AI-powered rendering ushered in a 4K experience for users. Expectations were particularly high for the 2080 Ti, the priciest offer from the company. However, news of issues regarding the GPU may threaten sales amidst early production runs.

User reports of "crashes, black screens, blue screen of death issues, artifacts and cards that fail to work entirely" have been popping up on tech forums long before NVIDIA issued a statement. The company attempted to solve the issue by sending replacement cards. However, some users still reported that the replacement cards suffered from similar issues.

A representative took to the company’s forum to address the problem, confirming that specific cards are affected. “Limited test escapes from early boards caused the issues some customers have experienced with RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition,” the statement said.

“Test problems” could mean that whatever caused these issues made it past quality control and into the hands of consumers. The company has already advised affected users to visit the NVIDIA support page to communicate with the company’s tech support team in resolving the issue.

NVIDIA has not yet confirmed the specific problem with its RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition graphics card, nor how many products are affected. Additionally, NVIDIA’s stock value has dropped by 50 percent in the last two months amidst a ramp-up in production for the 4th quarter. Read the full story here.
