AMETEK has developed a way to perform remote reading, testing and setting of its JOFRA RTC and PTC Series temperature calibrators. A 3G Gateway unit with transmission coverage equal to a smartphone can now be attached to any JOFRA RTC or PTC temperature calibrator and read data from the calibrator every two seconds.

The data is presented as a real-time copy of the calibrator’s display with any web-enabled electronic device, such as a PC, laptop or smartphone. Once set up, a single technician can control the set point, read unit-under-test (UUT) values on a SCADA in the control room and take the calibrator reference read out remotely.

The JofraCloud can save time and improve work safety when calibrating sensors in difficult or dangerous locations. When calibrating sensors atop a fermenter tank or smoke stack, for example, the technician need only climb a ladder for set up and finish. All set points and readings in between can be done remotely.

FLIR Thermal Imaging Camera for Electronics Development and Testing

FLIR Systems has announced the launch of the ETS320 thermal imaging camera for electronics testing in engineering benchtop environments. As the first FLIR camera designed specifically for benchtop work in testing and analyzing the thermal characteristics of electronic components and printed circuit boards (PCBs), the ETS320 aims to advance testing and diagnosis accuracy in the electronics industry.

The ETS320 combines a high-sensitivity thermal camera – engineered for imaging PCBs and other electronics – with an adjustable, hands-free table stand to provide consistent, non-contact thermal testing through the entire electronics design, development and production process. By offering more than 76,000 points of temperature measurement, the ETS320 provides the ability to monitor power consumption, detect hot spots and identify potential points of failure during product development.

Keysight LoRa-Based Test Solutions

Keysight Technologies has announced that it will use Semtech's LoRa devices and wireless RF technology (LoRa Technology) in the development of Internet of Things (IoT) test products. LoRa Technology is a low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) solution and is used in the building of IoT networks. It is designed for sensors and applications that need to send a small amount of data over long distances a few times per hour from varying environments, such as climate change, pollution control and early warning of natural disasters.

Keysight will use the technical data from LoRa Technology to develop test services for use in design validation and verification of IoT applications. The company will provide dedicated signal generation and analysis tools for LoRa-based devices in the X-Series signal analyzers and signal generators, E6640A EXM wireless test set, as well as its 89600 VSA software.

Pico Sampling Oscilloscope

Pico Technology has added three 15 GHz models and a further 25 GHz model to its portable PicoScope 9300 Series of Sampling Oscilloscopes. The 15 GHz models replace the preceding 9200 Series 12 GHz models, with upgraded specifications that now operate under the PicoSample 3 software. These instruments combine sampling technology with the convenience of USB and LAN control ports.

The PicoScope 9301-15 provides two channels at 15 GHz bandwidth and prescaled trigger to 14 GHz. It delivers 16-bit sampling rate of 1 MS/s in support of fast-update eye diagrams, persisted traces, histogramming and statistical analysis. Equivalent sampling rate tops out at 15 TS/s.

Tektronix Automotive Design and Testing

Tektronix has released automotive-specific software solutions for the 5 Series MSO mixed signal oscilloscope designed to speed up validation and debug and shorten design cycles for the complex electronics systems found in next-generation vehicles. These automotive products take advantage of key 5 Series MSO innovations including up to 8 channels, 12-bit resolution and its high-definition capacitive touch display and intuitive user interface.

The automotive solutions for the 5 Series MSO include the following:

  • 5-SRAUTO protocol option package, which offers serial triggering and analysis of the major buses used in the automotive industry, such as CAN, CAN FD, LIN and FlexRay. CAN FD support includes non-ISO and ISO versions of the standard.
  • 5-CMAUTOEN Automotive Ethernet that provides automated compliance support for the IEEE P802.3bw (100BASE-T1) and BroadR-Reach V3.2 specification requirements.
