Russian-based CAD company LEDAS Ltd. has released a new customizable cloud platform for 3D applications. The LEDAS Cloud Platform, or LCP, provides real-time 3D modeling collaboration through its web browser interface.

The LEDAS Cloud Platform follows the example set by modern web apps, like Google’s suite of online office software, in allowing users to collaborate with each other, in real-time, right within their browsers. LCP users can simultaneously access and view the same 3D data in a number of common formats, including STEP (for MCAD modeling), IFC (for building and construction data), STL (for 3D printing and 3D meshes), and XYZ (for 3D point clouds).

“Our customers expressed to us their interest in being able to do multiuser editing in their products in many areas of 3D modeling, including BIM, CAD/CAM, 3D meshes and point clouds,” said LEDAS’s Nikolay Snytnikov. “This is why we decided to support this exciting feature in LCP.”

The LEDAS Cloud Platform is designed to be flexible so that users can configure it to meet their specific design needs. By licensing the source code, users can modify LCP by adding their own custom functionality. In the case where a user wants added functionality but doesn’t have access to an in-house development team, LEDAS also provides software development services.

“We have gained a deep experience in working with the 3D technology stack for the web,” said LEDAS CEO Alexey Ershov. “We have found the cloud well-suited to developing a variety of 3D modeling applications for CAD/PLM, AEC/BIM, and even general 3D modeling.”
