Why Attend Solid Edge University Next Month

ENGINEERING.com is sending a team of three to cover Solid Edge University in Cincinnati from Oct. 26-28. I’m happy to be among them.

If it’s as good as previous years, I’m anticipating an excellent combination of:

  • Inspirational keynote stories, like one by designer Ali Kermani, who shared his journey of determination to bring the Crazy Cart to market;
  • Business transformation insights from the likes of Dan Staples and John Miller of Siemens;
  • Technical breakout sessions to help users discover how to get the most from their investments.

The keynote for Tuesday, Oct. 27th will present Philip Norman, technology lead with Ross Robotics. In his talk, called “Traversing New Terrains,” he’ll share the story of developing a robot with a team, including a writer, a caricaturist and a fine artist.

To help you justify the cost of the trip to management, pitch how the technical sessions will improve your knowledge of Solid Edge and your ability to do your job more effectively.

There is also value in the connections you can make, although those are harder to quantify. For example, you might find yourself sitting for lunch with someone who overcame a design problem like yours. Equally hard to quantify is the value of driving a Crazy Cart around the parking lot of a craft brewery (a fun event from a prior year), so maybe you shouldn’t pitch that one to management!

Take a look at the full Solid Edge University agenda and speaker lineup along with registration and hotel information. Start your internal approval process now if you haven’t already – the registration discount ends Sept. 28th.

I hope to see you there.
