modeFRONTIER 2016 Adds User Profiles to Improve CAE Optimization Workflows

ESTECO has released the latest version of its multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) software, modeFRONTIER 2016. The tool also helps engineering teams allocate software resources to streamline the team’s workflow and collaboration.

As a result, modeFRONTIER aims to reduce development time and project complexity, and improve an engineering team’s efficiency.

modeFRONTIER combines third-party computer-aided design (CAD) with computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools to allow for multi-objective and multidisciplinary optimizations. The software uses various optimization algorithms to control third-party CAE tools and alter parameters while exploring the design space or optimizing a product. modeFRONTIER also includes post-processing tools to gather and display the results of an optimization project.

The latest release of modeFRONTIER offers user profiles that help to streamline an engineering team’s workflow and consolidate skills within appropriate tasks. Depending on the user’s profile, and how far along an optimization project is, users can access multiple functionalities of the software at once.

The new release also introduces two modules, modeSPACE and modePROCESS, which separate the functionalities of modeFRONTIER between the various user profiles.

modeSPACE is a design space environment tool that allows for the improved use of licenses and role management within an engineering organization. It is able to investigate data during the post-processing and pre-optimization phases.

modePROCESS, in contrast, is an independent application that visualizes processes in a graphical workflow. The tool also helps engineers determine and control which CAE tools and parameters are needed to find a solution to an engineering problem.

Some user profile options include:

  • modeSPACE profiles
    • Data Viewer: deciphers datasets in modeSPACE on a managerial level
    • Data Inspector: post-processes datasets
    • Data Intelligence: enables data analysts can focus on the data and use response surface methods (RSM) and multi-variable analysis (MVA) tools
    • Data Explorer: sets up and executes design of experiments (DOE) workflows and uses all the data analysis tools
  • modePROCESS profiles
    • Automation Designer: integrates the physics domains into the MDO; builds, edits and runs the MDO using modeFRONTIER and modePROCESS
    • Single Discipline Design: uses modeFRONTIER and modePROCESS optimization tools for a single physics discipline
    • Multi-Disciplinary Design: allows modeFRONTIER to be used to its fullest
    • Optimeazy: offers one-click optimization projects from ESTECO’s pilOPT algorithm using modeFRONTIER and modePROCESS

The latest release of modeFRONTIER also sees improvement to the RSM wizard. Users will be able to benefit from an automatic training feature that can help users create RSMs and learn how to use them for what-if analysis and response predictions. Users can also compare metamodels from approximations using an RSM evaluation chart.
