5 Tips and Quotes to Stay Inspired During Your Job Search!

Searching for a job these days has become a full time job! To land that “perfect job,” you need to be doing something job search related, all day every day, to ensure you don’t miss that opportunity.

Is this process starting to wear you down both mentally and physically? Well don’t let it, here are 5 tips to stay inspired and in your job search!

1. Maintain a Positive Mental Attitude
Maintaining a positive mental attitude throughout the process is critical to your success. Think about the times in your career when you were most successful. Were you in a negative state of mind? Most likely not or else you wouldn’t have been successful. Positivity is also healthier because when you think negatively, negative chemicals are released into your system. Don’t believe it?…….Google it!

To help maintain a positive mental attitude try reading uplifting quotes. Feel free to get creative and even lean on Dr. Seuss for upbeat inspiration. These messages will keep you in a positive state of mind and increase your potential for success.

“The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.” – Unknown

2. Continuing Education
Sign up for educational courses that may be helpful to you in your personal and professional development. These might include courses towards a graduate degree or a simple inexpensive community school course. Utilize some of your down time to improve yourself in ways that will facilitate your career advancement.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss

3. Workout
You no longer have an excuse that you are “too busy” to get to the gym! Do some type of physical activity each day, even if it is just taking a walk outside. Being outdoors can help you clear your mind and refocus. Your physical being is important to your success simply because your body carries your mind, which is responsible for making all of your decisions. Your fitness and physical appearance are also often tied to your confidence and self-esteem, which will be critical during the interview process. Overall, you will have more energy to attack the job search process.

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” – Jim Rohn

4. Reconnect/Travel
Take some of this time to travel and re-connect with family and friends. Even if it is just a day trip somewhere, it will temporarily allow you to clear your mind and enjoy some of this transitional time. Your friends and family may also offer some valuable advice, recommendations or contacts that may help you land that new job.

A real friend is someone who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. – Proverb

5. Relax
Stay as relaxed as possible through this entire period and know that it is just one step in your journey to your dream job! Years from now you will look back on this time and be thankful that it gave you an opportunity to find a job that was much better suited and enjoyable for you!

“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.” – Greg Anderson
