3D Systems continues to expand its portfolio of Digital Dentistry applications with the introduction of an optimized workflow for 3D printing orthodontic models. At LMT Lab Day 2020, the company will unveil a new digital manufacturing system for high precision vertical stacked printing of orthodontic models.
Integrating the company’s NextDent 5100 3D printer, NextDent Model 2.0 material and a proprietary, high precision stacked build available in 3D Sprint, dental labs and clinics can produce 30 orthodontic models in one print – with the potential to deliver 120 models in an 8 hour period (dependent on size and geometry). This system increases productivity while reducing resource consumption including materials and labor.
The catalyst for this solution is 3D Systems’ 3D Sprint software designed to prepare and optimize CAD data and then manage the additive manufacturing process. The new auto-stacking feature provides one-click automated preparation and placement of models on the build plate – including smart nesting and proprietary support structures – that yield models with high precision, reduced material consumption and easy break-off supports. This feature is planned to be generally available for all NextDent 5100 users in early Q2 2020.
Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that NextDent® Denture 3D+, biocompatible denture material received 510(k) clearance. Producing a denture using NextDent Denture 3D+ for the base, and NextDent C&B MFH for the teeth on the NextDent 5100 results in a final denture that is 90% less expensive to produce in 75% less time than dentures created using analog methods.
3D Systems will showcase its optimized orthodontic workflow alongside additional applications and innovations at LMT Lab Day, booth M-20 East Tower, Riverside Exhibit Hall, as well as through its seminars.
