To address longstanding 3D printing design, prototyping and manufacturing challenges, The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) has developed EVOLV3D Universal Support Material (USM), which is initially available through Taulman 3D Printing Materials.
Water-soluble EVOLV3D USM maintains its structural integrity during the printing process to enable more complex and intricate designs, and then readily dissolves in water after use, eliminating the need for harsh chemical or mechanical removal and disposal methods.
EVOLV3D USM supports 3D printing in settings where chemical handling processes may not be in place, including in homes, offices and academic labs. EVOLV3D USM is safe to handle and easy to remove, reducing the risk of chemical exposure for customers and eliminating harmful waste generation during and after the printing process.
The Dow EVOLV3D platform of materials for 3D printing aims to solve some of the most pressing issues in 3D printing. This newest edition to the family of products received a bronze 2018 Edison Award in the Applied Technology category for its contributions to creating functional, beautiful and high-performing 3D-printed parts across a variety of build materials and complex geometries. The Edison Awards honor excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design, and innovation.
