3D Printer priced at less than $15,000

“There is something about a physical model; it engages all of your senses in a way that a drawing on screen or on paper cannot, enabling engineers to create better designs,” said Joe Titlow, Director of Product Management, Z Corporation. Titlow went on to mention that ZCorp. has customers who take the approach of just printing any idea that comes into their minds, and reaping the benefits of the greater creativity such an approach encourages.

But in order to realize the goal of creating more physical models, the engineer community needs 3D printers with a lower operating cost. The developers at Z Corp. want to make 3D printing so easy and available to every designer, engineer, architect, and student that the idea of 3D printing any design you draw becomes a reality. Thus, it has introduced two commercial-class 3D printers.

The ZPrinter® 150 (monochrome, $14,900) and ZPrinter® 250 (multicolor, $24,900) have a small physical footprint suitable for the classroom, department, or small business. Both are easy to use out of the box. They print five to ten times faster than other 3D printing systems with their ability to print multiple, stacked models simultaneously.

The ZPrinter 250, like the other color ZPrinters, prints multiple colors simultaneously. This feature results in parts that are easy to evaluate in terms of look, feel, and design style. Color printing also lets you incorporate graphics, logos, text, labels, and design comments.

One of the key benefits of these printers is their cost per cubic inch. According to ZCorp, the ZPrinter 250 cost is about $3 per cubic in. This cost includes consumables–powders, binder, printheads, and finishing parts of the process.

Both ZPrinters incorporate automation features that were first offered in the midrange ZPrinter 450, such as automatic setup, automatic powder loading, and self-monitoring of materials and print status. At home in any office or classroom, they are clean, quiet and free of any hazardous waste.

The ZPrinter 150 and ZPrinter 250 are available through Z Corporation’s worldwide reseller network. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price in the USA is $14,900 USD and $24,900 USD respectively.
