Most fused filament fabrication 3D printers have a small build table for several reasons, including the time it would take to build large sized objects this way. But if your application calls for a larger 3D printed object, or, you need to print a number of parts at a time, an option is the 3DP1000 from 3DP Unlimited. You can see this printer at the upcoming RAPID Show in Detroit, at Cobo Hall, June 9-12.
The 3DP1000 offers a build area of 30,510 cubic inches (39.37 in. l by 39.37 in. w, by 19.68 in. h) and creates objects with a 70 micron layer resolution. The material it works with includes Polylactic Acid, and ABS. For the applications that require a 1 to 1 scale prototype or model, this printer will suit.
3DP Unlimited is a division of PBC Linear, so the $15,999 printer is made from components from its parent company for a robust system. These components include SIMO Series linear motion actuators, Constant Force lead screws with anti-backlash nuts, and step motors with microstepping capability to 25,000 steps per revolution.
In addition, the printer uses open source software and control platforms.
