3D Platform (3DP), a global leader in manufacturing large-format, industrial-strength 3D printers, announced the pre-release of the WorkCenter 500 – a new extra-large format 3D printer.
“ The overwhelmingly positive response to 3DP’s Excel machine has made one thing clear – not all customers need multiple gantries, and both additive and subtractive capabilities,” stated Jonathan Schroeder, President of 3DP. “Also, many who need an extra-large format machine cannot afford to spend $750k or more. Therefore, we set out to design a purpose-built machine for extra-large format additive manufacturing that wouldn’t break the bank.”
The WorkCenter 500 is priced at under $200k USD. It uses a Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) system and offers an extra-large build volume of 1.4 m x 2.8 m x 700 mm (4.5 ft x 9 ft x 2.29 ft).
WorkCenter 500 is currently the only machine on the market in the large format category to provide the option of pellet or filament extruder(s) – or both! These high volume extruders offer a choice of throughput rates ranging from 1.3 kg/hr to more than 7.5 kg/hr. Customers can then use a variety of open market filament / pellets and software that can deliver up to a 90% savings versus closed eco-system machines.
3DP is now excepting applications for limited beta-sites and pre-order reservations.
